13 week course

Interested in film making? Get the chance to write, direct and produce in our thirteen week course and gain a valuable insight into the entire film making process - from script to screen, offering the opportunity to gain a theoretical and practical working overview of the major aspects of making a film. The intensive nature of this condensed practical course demands 100% of your time and commitment. The course runs for 13 weeks and you will be expected to work 30+ hours per week. Excellent tutor-to-student ratio (maximum class size is 10 students to a tutor).

Write, direct and produce a short film or sketch in this five day taster course and gain a valuable insight into the entire film making process - from script to screen, offering the opportunity to gain a theoretical and practical working overview of the major aspects of making a film.

Aims of the courses

Our taster film course provides training, support and advice to help students learn the film making process and provide a foundation for further study or help further their career objectives.

Course overview

Day 1 Preproduction: Scriptwriting, Budget, Shot types, Storyboards, Blocking, Director and Producer.
Day 2 Film Production. Tripod, Camera operation, Pan, Tilt, Moving camera, Audio recording, Microphones, Lighting.
Day 3 Film Production. Take on the role of director, cameraman, audio recording engineer or actor as you create your very own short film or sketch.
Day 4 Post production, Video editing, iMovie, Final Cut, Audio editing, Logic.
Day 5 Finishing a project, DVD creation. How to get your film screened and broadcast.

13 week film making Selected units from our Multimedia City & Guilds qualification. Full time (including work placement) or part time (optional work placement).

5 day fim making taster course One day per week for five weeks.
