Courses which teach our City & Guilds qualifications in Sound Engineering, Music Technology and Multimedia are currently run at our headquarters in South London and at other colleges and training studios (satellite centres) across Great Britain and Ireland.

A satellite centre is an organisation which is running a course delivering one of our City & Guilds qualifications ...

  1. City & Guilds Sound Engineering Foundation qualification 2337-01
  2. City & Guilds Sound Engineering Advanced qualification 2337-02
  3. City & Guilds Music Technology qualification 2337-03
  4. City & Guilds Multimedia qualification 2338

Such an organisation is a satellite centre of The Institute of Music & Technology, NOT City & Guilds. This is advantageous to the satellite centre in that we handle all the registration and certification processes.

Such organisations include ...

As authors of the qualifications, IMT acts as the national administration and moderation centre for the programme.

Who can become a satellite centre?

Any public or private institution that can provide adequate teaching and technical resources, and mees City & Guilds criteria for training, evaluation and verification, can qualify for our support in creating a course to deliver one of our qualifications, and thereby become a satellite centre.

Qualification / course distinction

Our City & Guilds qualifications are a set of practical skills and knowledge based standards developed by us in association with the City & Guilds. Any student who in the opinion of a qualified assessor (us or you) and verifier (us), passes these standards can received a City & Guilds Certificate of achievement.

Providing these standards are maintained, an educational organisation can create any kind of course to teach them. Decisions on course length (time span) and methodology may largely be the result of the funding available to organisation and students.
